Back 2 The Biz...

Sorry for last night's outpour of emotions...trust me, IT WON'T HAPPEN AGAIN.

On with it...

In the new February issue of Vibe magazine, Kanye says he wants less fans with the exchange of being able to make popular music the way he wants. Well in so many words...

Kanye says,

I made a decision. I wanna make popular music, but I want less fans. I want the freedom of having less fans. It’s like the freedom of having less money. If you have less money, you have less responsibility. It’s like Björk. If she wanted to pose naked, you’d be like, ‘Oh, that’s Björk.’ But if I wanted to pose naked, people would draw all type of things into it. I definitely feel like, in the next however many years, if I work out for two months, that I’ll pose naked. I break every rule and mentality of hip-hop, of black culture, of American culture.”

Don't know about you, but I'm definitely feeling Kanye on this one. At least the first part and the very last part of this quote anyway. I guess what he's trying to say is he wants to continue to be creative and different without the occasional side-eyes of "what the hell is Kanye doing?" I can see where he's coming from. True artists want the ability to think and manifest their talents openly and the way that they want. People are so used to the same types of reused and recycled music, that when someone finally decides to do something different, it may not register to their thick skull that change is the sh*t. And I can understand that having such a large and strong fanbase can bring on the pressures of making music that they may want you to make. So you gotta respect this dude, whether you thought "808's and Heartbreak" was a flop or what. That's one of the many reasons why I love and respect Kanye as an artist. He's one of the very few artists who "dares to be different", and that's what I think he is. That dude may very well be crazy...I love it.

Less fans?

Way to thank the people who supported you throughout your career Kanye.

This man has lost his damn mind. He's like the Black Male version of Britney Spears

Yes i completly agree with the dude. I liked 808s & HEARTBREAK and with that he as well as I knew he was gonna loose fans like that. He is already an established artist so whenever they flip the switch...like so...your gonna loose some & your gonna gain some.

Anyways being creative you find you find your true fans.

But ppl who dont like the new direction have valid point but think omniscent not first person.

less fans = more creative control

The less fans comment wasn't meant to be taken literal. Obviously he wants fans because fans make him money.

But a lot of people do think he's gone MADD. Alexis Phifer did a number on him foreal. But it's cool. He hasn't pushed it to the limit...just yet.
